Summary

Third-party Donations allow merchants to support charitable organizations by prompting for small donations directly from the P5 terminal. Unlike the standard Donations feature, funds automatically flow directly into the charity’s own account.

Historically, Quilt supported Round-Up Donations with certain POS Brands, but merchants were responsible for collecting and remitting the funds themselves. This introduced delays, compliance risks, and inconsistent donor experiences. Instead, by processing donations via the PayFac, Quilt ensures the funds are deposited directly into the charity’s bank account. This means merchants do not need to handle donation money and can avoid regulatory compliance requirements.

Charities are only available to merchant accounts that are under the same brand in the PayFac Portal. Additional brands and charities will become available as we onboard additional charities.
