S1F2’s also knows as Saturn 1000, are a terminal provided directly by Adyen. Currently, they are the only hardware that works in Canada, especially for a unique card type that Canada has called Interac. The key difference from the P5 is that the software on the reader is locked into a step-by-step process, unlike the P5 where the Android System Settings are accessible. The following steps are a general guide for any software supporting processing in Canada and the S1F2s.

  1. Obtain the serial number from the customer. A long number will look like this after being preceded by S1F2 on a level on the underside of the card terminal (all you need are the numbers after:

  1. In the payment portal profile page, or in the software depending on the brand, click Add Terminal and select the S1F2 for the device type

  1. The terminal will be added to their list of devices if successful. This way you can know for sure the customer’s device is good to go before guiding them through the hardware steps. Starting with, have them power on the device by hitting the button on the right-hand side.

  2. Follow the directions on the screen to select a language and WiFi network to connect to.

  3. There will be a screen to confirm the location. Pairing the device before this page, should limit it to one option. If there are multiple options for the retailer, have them restart the device by holding in the power button and choosing the restart button on the screen.

  4. After confirming the store location, the terminal should be ready for a test transaction once prompted by the retailer’s software. Upon successful transaction, the setup is complete.
