Summary
The P5 credit card terminal is equipped with a micro SIM card reader to allow for mobile network configuration when a Wi-Fi network is not available. It requires a physical SIM card to function and is capable of 4G network speeds when available. This allows more flexibility when accepting payments on customer location or attending conventions.

Installing SIM Card
Here are the steps to installing and setting up the P5 credit card terminal to use a SIM card to utilize the cellular network:

Press and hold the power button until the power menu comes up and power off the terminal.

Remove the battery cover by gently prying the back cover of the P5 off using a plastic pry tool. There is a cut out section at the bottom of the back cover to allow access to remove the cover.

- Remove the battery from the terminal. This will expose the SIM card tray.

- Under the battery you will find the tray for the SIM card. The metal cage to secure the card will lift up to allow access to the tray itself. Lift the tray and place the SIM card into the slot, the card has a corner that is cut diagonally that will match up with the same in the slot.


- Align the keyed corner of the SIM card with the keyed section in the SIM card tray (Bottom left corner of the SIM card tray is the notched corner indicated by the yellow arrow).

Note: Make sure the SIM card is seated into the tray securely, the contacts are clean and the SIM card is in contact with all 8 copper pins.

- Close the SIM card tray and firmly press down on the metal cover to make sure the card is securely held against the contact points.

Replace the batter, making sure the copper pads at the top of the battery line up with the pins at the top of the battery compartment.

Replace the back cover of the P5 and press down along the entire edge of the battery door to make sure the clips seat into the back of the terminal securly.

Turn on the Terminal by pressing and holding the power button until you see the Android logo indicating the terminal is booting up.

In the top left corner of the home screen you should see a name/logo of the mobile carrier for the SIM card that you just installed like you would see on a mobile phone.

Initiating the Mobile Data Network
Once the physical SIM card has been installed in the P5 terminal SIM card tray, you will need to activate the mobile network on the terminal. Follow the steps below to activate the mobile network:
- If the POS app is open close it by tapping on the four corners on the screen sequentially from the top left to the top right and then the bottom right and the bottom left. Then tap on the ‘Close Application’.
- On the home screen, swipe up from the bottom to bring up the configuration menu, and select the ‘Settings’.
- On the settings menu select the ‘Network & Internet’ option.
- On the Network & Internet screen you will see a ‘Mobile Network’ selection that should show the network that the SIM card is registered to. Select that option.
- On the Mobile Network screen select the toggle button at the top to enable the terminal to use the SIM card that has been installed, and then turn on the ‘Mobile Data’, and the ‘Roaming’ if needed.
- Scroll down the Mobile Data page and locate the “Preferred Network Type’. Select on that and make sure it is set to ‘2G/3G/4G’ to get the best possible speeds and connection.

- Tap on the back arrow to get back to the Network & Internet screen. If running only on the Mobile Network, turn the ‘Wi-Fi’ option off. Or select the option to ‘Auto switch data SIM’ to automatically change to the mobile network when Wi-Fi is not available.
