✨ Follow these steps to set up the Stripe WisePOS-E Card Reader.
Step 1: Powering Up the Device
- Install the Battery:
- Remove the back cover by lifting it from the bottom left corner.
- Insert the battery, ensuring the gold connectors align at the top.
- Charge the Reader:
- Use the provided USB cable to connect to the port with the ⚡ lightning bolt symbol.
- Note: A USB wall outlet is not included. Use a computer’s USB port or purchase a USB wall charger.
- Power On/Off:
- Hold the power button (right side) until the screen turns on.
- To fully power off, hold the power button and select Power Off on the screen.
- 💡 Tip: Keep the device powered on and plugged in to receive automatic software updates.
Step 2: Connecting to WiFi
- Access WiFi Settings:
- Swipe right from the left edge of the screen to open the Settings Menu.
- Tap the Settings Button and enter the admin PIN: 07139.
- Select Your Network:
- Tap Wi-Fi Settings.
- Use the touchscreen to select your WiFi network and enter the password.
- Return to the main menu by tapping the back arrow (top left).
- WiFi Requirements:
- The network must use WPA-Personal or WPA2-Personal encryption and be password protected.
- The WiFi network must match the one your registered computer is connected to.
- If using Ethernet, hard-wire both the reader and computers for consistent connectivity.
Step 3: Pairing Your Device
- Generate a Pairing Code:
- Open the Settings Menu (swipe right).
- Enter the admin PIN: 07139.
- Tap Generate Pairing Code.
- Follow Pairing Instructions:
- Instructions vary by platform but are generally similar to Adyen processes.
- Select WisePOS-E as the device during setup.
- Update the Device:
- After pairing, the reader may prompt for a software update.
- Start the update; this may take several minutes depending on network speed.
Step 4: Using the BBPOS WisePOS E Dock (Optional)
- Features:
- Provides Ethernet connectivity and keeps the reader charged.
- Includes rubber feet for stability and allows easy docking/undocking.
- Setup Instructions:
- Connect the Ethernet cable to the dock and router.
- Plug the dock into a power source (5V-2A minimum).
- Insert the reader into the dock.
