Credit Card Surcharging — Merchant Onboarding SOP

⚠️ Surcharging is supported for in-person, full credit card transactions only. Not supported: websites, virtual terminal, manual entry, partial payments, tips, debit cards, prepaid cards, or gift cards.

Quick Reference Checklist

• [ ] Send the Surcharging Welcome Guide (Quick Start Guide PDF) to the merchant
• [ ] Review all talking points with the merchant (see Step 2)
• [ ] Confirm signage has been ordered or merchant has printed their own
• [ ] Confirm signage has been posted at entrance(s) and register(s)
• [ ] Receive photo confirmation of posted signage from merchant
• [ ] Enable surcharging in the portal (by team or merchant self-serve)
• [ ] Send compliance follow-up email to merchant

Step 1 — Send the Surcharging Welcome Guide

Send the merchant the Quilt Payments Surcharging Quick Start Guide (PDF) and allow adequate time for them to review it before your follow-up call.

📦 Signage Ordering — Coming Soon Signage can be ordered directly through Sales during the sales process. Coordinate with the Sales team for current ordering instructions. In the meantime, merchants can print the signage on page 5 of the Quick Start Guide.
