The terminal should have the sleep setting disabled by default. If someone enabled it, or if it came enabled by default, the terminal can miss transaction requests causing incomplete sales or other issues. While having the sleep setting remain off will drain the battery faster, it will also allow it to perform more reliably and should always be turned off for optimal performance.
