Use this when a merchant running AIM is having card reader issues for in-store payments.
This assumes the General Troubleshooting steps have already been done (WiFi, Awaiting Connection, Declines, P5 Sync).
✅ 1. Pre-Checks Before Touching the P5
Confirm:
- They use Vortx for online rentals/contracts/orders
- They switched to AIM Payments (not OpenEdge or legacy processors)
- The P5 is listed in Payment Portal
- Merchant is logged into the correct workstation in AIM
If any are not true → fix at that layer first.
If Vortx Website is involved → escalate configuration to AIM Software team.
🧲 2. Verify P5 in Payment Portal (PayFac)
AIM only recognizes terminals that exist in Payment Portal.
🧮 Step 1: Confirm Terminal Exists
- Open merchant Profile in Payment Portal
- Go to Terminals
- Confirm:
- Terminal Type = P5
- Terminal has an assigned Terminal ID
- Name matches the register location
If missing or outdated → re-pair.
