Summary

This article is to assist with understanding the batch close time setting and how that determines the payout schedule.

Batch Time

The batch time represents the window of time transactions from that day will be included in the following payout. For example, if the batch time was set to 1am then transactions from Monday at 1am to Tuesday at 1am will be included in the next day's deposit.

With Adyen, we control the Batch Time based on the 'Sweep Information' settings configured on the Profile page. While this can be customized based on the merchant's needs, the default time is usually set to midnight their local time for easier reconciliation since it means transactions should generally reconcile with the POS daily reporting.

From here you can change the 'Batch Closing Hour' (which is the batch close time) to whatever time the merchant is requesting. On this page you can also edit the Payout Descriptor which is the name that will appear as part of the deposit, the payout schedule (2-Day, Next-Day, etc.), and disable payouts entirely if needed.

The Batch Closing Hour has eight options, from Midnight to 7 AM. Most common is to select the Midnight, but this can be adjusted to suite the merchants need, if they are a facility that is open until 2 AM then they may want their batch time to close at 3 AM.

Payout Schedule

The payout schedule is the frequency by which the merchant will receive their payout for the previous batch that has closed.

The payout schedule depends on your country and whether your business operates in a higher-risk industry. Generally, if you are in the U.S. or Canada, you should expect to receive your funds within 2 business days with the batch closing at midnight in your local time-zone. One-business day funding may be available upon request with the same midnight or adjusted batch close time.

Payout Schedule

To set the batch time you will start by setting the sweep schedule to reflect the closest time zone to the location of the account.

Two-Day is the default setting for this, but Next-Day option is available for merchants that need their payouts as soon as they can.
