Purpose

Provide a standardized process for managing Visa Compliance Violations to ensure merchants receive timely communication, understand required corrective actions, and resolve violations before additional fines, re-audits, or account termination occur.

Background

Visa performs routine compliance audits to ensure merchants are following card acceptance regulations.

When a violation is identified, Visa may:

• Assess financial penalties
• Require corrective action
• Require proof of compliance
• Conduct re-audits
• Escalate enforcement actions for continued non-compliance

Failure to resolve violations before the stated deadline can result in increased fines, mandatory re-audits, or termination of processing privileges.
